We now enter into 3 weeks into some of the most important moments in the history of Israel’s kings and kingdom(s). It starts with the book of Samuel, a book that details the earliest days of Israel’s monarchy. In today’s reading, you’ll get some idea into where our practice of child dedication comes from, you’ll hear some resonances of Hannah in what Jesus’ mother Mary said (remember back in Luke?), and the scene will begin to be set for Saul – Israel’s first king.
