Hello Park Church,
Fall is upon us, leaves are changing, pumpkins are out, and Halloween is coming! We hope you’re doing well on this rainy day. We want to take a moment to share an important announcement with you.
We have decided that starting in November, we will move to one Sunday service at 9:30AM.
That means that this Sunday (October 31) will be the last Sunday with two services for the time being. There are many reasons why we are making this change now.
First, in a COVID world, we knew we were taking a risk going to two services this September. Historically, our Sunday attendance jumps up significantly from the summer into September and October. Hoping that pattern would continue (even in a COVID world, where many people are watching online), we took that risk – but September and October have proven to be different than past years.
Second, we knew that a 10:30 service without childcare and classes for children was going to be a difficult service to grow – and that has proven true. Our expectation is that at the right time in the future, we will be able to go back to two services when we can fully staff each service with Park Kids volunteers for all age levels.
Third, and perhaps most meaningful, we have a lot of big things coming in December and January – and it will be good to all meet together in one service. This December, we’re excited to celebrate the birth of our Lord together as one big family, and in January, we will be unveiling a new vision for Park Church that will determine our direction for the future. We are thankful to be able to do that together in one service, as one unified body.
So again, what does this mean? It means that this Sunday (Halloween!) will be our last Sunday with two services, and that on Sunday November 7 and beyond, we will see you by 9:30AM for one service. Park Kids will be fully staffed in the nursery through 6th grade, and we will continue to live stream the service if you’re not able to be there in person.
If you are someone who is disappointed that the later service is going away for now, we hear you! Our expectation is that it will be back eventually.
